OXIDE SUPERCONDUCTING WIRE AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oxide superconducting wire manufactured by use of a pulse laser deposition (PLD) method and having improved superconducting characteristics compared to the prior arts, and a method for manufacturing the oxide superconducting wire.SOLUTION: The oxide superconducting wire has an oxide superconducting layer 2 formed by a pulse laser deposition method on an intermediate layer 1b of an oriented metal substrate 1a having the intermediate layer 1b preliminarily disposed thereon. An specific index &Dgr;χ in the oxide superconducting layer is smaller than an index &Dgr;χ in the intermediate layer. In the method for manufacturing the oxide superconducting wire, an oxide superconducting layer is formed by use of a pulse laser deposition method in an oxygen atmosphere on an intermediate layer of an oriented metal substrate 1 where the intermediate layer is preliminarily disposed; and an oxygen partial pressure in the oxygen atmosphere is set to less than 30 Pa.
