PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an associative memory which includes a memory in which a search data is input, and which stores a plurality of entry data, and a search circuit which searches an address in the memory in which entry data corresponds to the search data; and to restrict the number of entry data to be compared with the search data to a log of the total number of entry data so as to reduce power consumption.SOLUTION: In a memory, entry data re-sorted in an ascending or descending order are stored corresponding to addresses. A search circuit, in which the whole addresses where a plurality of entry data are stored are initial search areas, compares entry data and search data stored in an address of a central search area, and outputs the address as a search result when these data agree, but repeats a search operation of narrowing the search area in a next search on the basis of a result of comparison between their sizes when they do not agree. |
