PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately determine image quality deterioration in an imaging apparatus employing an imaging device configured to include a plurality of photodiodes in each pixel.SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes the imaging device which includes a plurality of photoelectric conversion parts for each microlens and is capable of outputting a signal to be used for focus detection of a phase difference system. The imaging apparatus includes: a drive unit for driving the imaging device so as to perform a first reading operation for reading signals from M photoelectric conversion parts of the plurality of photoelectric conversion parts, a second reading operation for reading signals from N (N is greater than M) photoelectric conversion parts of the plurality of photoelectric conversion parts, and a third reading operation for reading signals so as not to include signals to which photoelectric conversions have been performed by the plurality of photoelectric conversion parts; and a control unit capable of controlling the drive unit under a first mode in which the second reading operation is performed after the first reading operation, and under a second mode in which the second reading operation is performed after the third reading operation. |
