PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording material having high gloss and high light resistance and to provide a method for forming images. SOLUTION: The recording material has at least one layer of the following recording layer formed on a supporting body. The recording layer contains (A) a color developing component encapsulated in heat-responding microcapsules and (B) a compound which is present outside of the heat-responding microcapsules and substantially colorless and has a color developing part to react with the color developing component (A) to develop colors. At least either the outermost layer of the recording material in the recording layer side or the layer in adjacent to the outermost layer includes a titanium oxide-containing layer. The recording material is used for the method for forming images. The gloss and the light resistance can be imparted to the recording material by the titanium oxide-containing layer.
