PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an environmentally friendly method for producing a cyclic ether, by which a cyclic ether including isosorbide can be obtained in a short time and in high yield without using a supercritical fluid and a high pressure reactor, and to provide a method for recycling an ionic liquid used therefor.SOLUTION: The method for producing a cyclic ether comprises a step of carrying out a dehydration reaction of a polyhydric alcohol by heating by a microwave a polyhydric alcohol having at least three or more hydroxyl groups to 100 to 300°C with an ionic liquid used as a reaction solvent. Also provided is a method for recycling the ionic liquid used therefor.
