Disclosed is a position detecting apparatus of a moving unit. The apparatus includes an RFID reader which has an antenna and receives first identification information from an RFID tag installed in the moving path of the moving unit through the antenna; and a processor which detects the position of the moving unit by using the first identification information. The processor controls the radiation pattern of the antenna in consideration of the moving speed of the moving unit.
