APPARATUS FOR GENERATING CODES IN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR THE SAME

PURPOSE: An apparatus for generating codes in a communication system and a method for the same are provided to improve a throughput by minimizing a symbol overlapping and a symbol puncturing between sub-codes when a quasi-complementary turbo codes are generated as a sequential starting point mode(SSPM) or a fixed starting point mode(FSPM). CONSTITUTION: A method for generating sub-codes in a communication system, wherein the sub-codes are determined by the same or a different sub-code rate of a code rate of a turbo encoder in response to a channel environment from a quasi-complementary turbo codes generated by using the turbo encoder for inputting a column of information words and having a given code rate, includes the steps of: dividing(1715) a length N of the quasi-complementary turbo codes into a plurality of intervals previously determined, determining identifications of the sub-codes corresponding to each of the divided intervals and specifying one of the identifications of the sub-codes allocated to an initial transfer of the sub-codes; calculating(1703) the number of remaining symbols which represents a difference(N-Fs) between the length N and a starting symbol position Fs of the sub-codes among the quasi-complementary turbo codes; determining(1711,1713) a last symbol position Ls of the sub-codes by comparing the number of the remaining symbols with the length of the sub-codes; and sequentially transmitting(1709) symbols of the sub-codes from the starting symbol position Fs to the last symbol position Ls.
