The present invention relates to a mobile terminal and a method for controlling the same. The mobile terminal includes: a touch screen for displaying each character on two or more reference points; a control unit for controlling additional characters having the order between the characters displayed on a first reference point and a second reference point to be displayed in the same style as a style of characters displayed on the first reference point and the second reference point if a touch gesture in which the first reference point is touched and dragged to the second reference point among the reference points is inputted. Only some characters are arranged and displayed intermittently on a virtual keypad displayed on the touch screen. Additional characters, having the order between the intermittently arranged characters, are displayed according to a drag touch gesture by a user. Therefore, provided is an environment where the user can efficiently input characters in an environment for using a smart watch with a small screen. |
