The present invention relates to pressure transducers embodying strain gauge technology to sense changes in pressure in a fluid system to produce an electrical signal, and to package structures; and methods of constructing such transducers. The pressure transducer assembly of the present invention, comprises: a pressure-responsive diaphragm to which a sensing element is mounted; and an electronic package which includes wire-bonding pads adapted to electrically be connected to the sensing element by wire bonding equipment. The diaphragm and wire bonding pads are supported within the transducer such that they lie in proximity to each other and in non-intersecting planes.
