The present invention relates to a black box device for a vehicle and a control method thereof. The black box device for a vehicle comprises a camera unit which photographs surroundings of a vehicle in real-time; a shock detecting unit which detects a shock applied to the vehicle; and a control unit which recognizes a portable disk as an external disk, when a portable disk is inserted into the black box device, and determines whether the external disk is inserted for the first time or not, and if the external disk is determined that is is inserted for the first time, then allocates partitions of the external disk and initializes the external disk, in a preset manner. |
