The present invention discloses a rodent-proof low smoke zero halogen material and method for preparation thereof; the components comprise a low smoke no halogen base material and a rodent-repelling material; the N-vanillylnonanamide content in the rodent-repelling material is 0.31-0.89% of the total weight of the rodent-proof low smoke zero halogen material. In the rodent-proof low smoke zero halogen material of the present invention, the N-vanillylnonanamide content is kept to the smallest possible range of amounts, and production costs are controlled and reasonable; the invention can be widely applied to the production of various types of electrical wire and cable, and enables large-scale widespread popularization of rodent-bite-protected wires and cables.
