PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for discharging a very small amount of various liquids from low viscosity to high viscosity with high accuracy without abutting a plunger on a liquid chamber inner wall (a valve seat) in a droplet discharge device using a reciprocating plunger.SOLUTION: A droplet discharge device comprises a discharge passage that forms a discharge port at a tip end thereof, a plunger, a liquid chamber through which the plunger is inserted, and a plunger driving mechanism that moves the plunger forward and backward. The plunger is moved forward in a state where the outer periphery of the plunger and the side surface of the liquid chamber are always in non-contact with each other, to impart an inertial force to a liquid material to discharge the liquid material in a droplet state. In the droplet discharge device, after the liquid material is divided from the discharged port by the movement of the plunger, formation of a gas-liquid interface inside the discharge passage by the backward movement of the plunger is repeatedly performed to continuously form droplets. |
