<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus provided with an inexpensive sensor having high detection accuracy and capable of reducing the SN ratio of stray light transmitted into a packaging substrate and detected by a light receiving element by applying light shielding coating between the packaging substrate and the optical sensor in an optical sensor module. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus comprising the packaging substrate and the optical sensor module constituted of mounting at least one light emitting element and at least one light receiving element on the packaging substrate, the light shielding coating is applied between the packaging substrate and the optical elements in the optical sensor module.
