METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR DOPPLER SPREAD ESTIMATION IN A WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

Methods and apparatus for communication include determining that an estimation procedure switching condition relating to a Doppler spread estimation has been met. Methods and apparatus further include switching between a frequency domain estimation procedure corresponding to a Doppler spread estimation procedure in a frequency domain and a time domain estimation procedure corresponding to a Doppler spread estimation procedure in a time domain in response to the estimation procedure switching condition being met. Additionally, methods and apparatus include performing a mobility procedure based on one of a first Doppler spread estimation of the frequency domain estimation procedure and a second Doppler spread estimation of the time domain estimation procedure.
