The procedure for replacing wear rings (5, 6) and fitting a bracket (1) axle, uses a centering rod (7) inserted through a bore in bracket walls (2, 3), and a coaxial pressure member (11) to apply an axial thrust to remove or fit the wear rings. A radial guide (12) is fitted round the centering rod for insertion into a bore with no wear ring in it.
