Systems and methods are disclosed herein that relate to assigning Device-to-Device (D2D) resource patterns to wireless devices, or User Equipment devices (UEs), and using the assigned D2D resource patterns. In some embodiments, a wireless device having cellular network assisted D2D 5 communication capabilities is operable to transmit a D2D signal in a frequency band of a cellular network during a predefined D2D period according to one of a plurality of predefined D2D transmission patterns. The plurality of predefined D2D transmission patterns has at least one of (i.e., one or more of) a number of properties disclosed herein. |
