PURPOSE:To reduce manufacture cost and to decrease a tube diameter by splitting the projection light of a polarization-plane conservative image guide into two and managing with only one image guide. CONSTITUTION:Polarized light from a polarizing plate 5a is transmitted through the semitransparent film 8 of a half-prism 7 to form an image on the incidence end surface of the polarization-plane conservative image guide 10. Polarized light from a polarizing plate 5b, on the other hand, also forms an image on the projection end surface of the image guide 10. Then, only the polarized light transmitted through the polarizing plate 5 is guided to an ocular 18a with regard to the projection light. On the other hand, only the polarized light transmitted through the polarizing plate 5b is guided to an ocular lens 18b with regard to light reflected by a mirror 16. Then, an observer observes a stereoscopic image. Thus, only one image guide is required, so the manufacture cost is reduced and the tube diameter is also decreased. |
