PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve conveyance efficiency of bills by reading serial numbers of the bills at a bill discriminating unit in a bill handling device.SOLUTION: The bill handling device includes: a bill receipt/payment unit for receiving and dispensing bills with a user; a bill discriminating unit capable of performing the discrimination of the bills and reading the serial numbers of the bills; a bill storage unit for storing the bills; a conveyance path for conveying the bills input from the bill receipt/payment unit to the bill storage unit through the bill discrimination unit; and a control unit for controlling the bill receipt/payments unit, the bill discrimination unit, the bill storage unit, and the conveyance path. When a deposit transaction with the user ends in failure after the bills are input, the control unit controls the bill receipt/payment unit, the bill discrimination unit, the bill storage unit and the conveyance path, and extracts bills having the same serial numbers read at the bill discriminating unit from the bill storage unit so as to be conveyed to the bill receipt/payment unit through the conveying path. |
