PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power converter capable of restoring output power in a short time even when system voltage has abruptly changed.SOLUTION: A power converter for converting DC power to AC power to output the AC power includes: a converter unit for boosting input voltage from a DC power supply; a capacitor for holding electric energy boosted by the converter unit; and an inverter unit that is connected to the capacitor, converts the electric energy held in the capacitor to AC power, and outputs the AC power to a commercial power system. The power converter suppresses, when instantaneous voltage reduction has occurred in the commercial system, output power from the inverter unit to the commercial power system and holds, in the capacitor, electric energy needed in restoring the output power to original power at the time of elimination of the voltage reduction; and restores, when the commercial power system's voltage has returned to original voltage from the reduced voltage, the output power to power at the time before the occurrence of the voltage reduction by compensating for difference between power boosted by the converter and the original output power by using the electric energy held by the capacitor. |
