<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus devised such that even when a cartridge is refilled with developer, the volume of the developer with which the cartridge is refilled can be managed. <P>SOLUTION: When an empty state in which the volume of developer in the toner cartridge (300) is zero is determined, information indicating the empty state is recorded in a nonvolatile memory (303). When determination is made, with reference to the information recorded in the nonvolatile memory, that the information indicating the empty state has been recorded, it is determined that the toner cartridge is a refill cartridge subjected to replenishment with developer. Then, information indicating the empty state, recorded in the nonvolatile memory, is replaced with information indicating the refill state. The amount of developer replenished in the toner cartridge, used to form images onto recording mediums, is calculated until empty state is determined, after the determination of the re-replenishment cartridge, and the calculated amount of developer is managed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
