This polarizing element contains at least two specific azo compounds, and the absolute value of the difference between the average transmissivity of 420nm to 480nm light and the average transmissivity of 520nm to 590nm light is within 2.5, and the absolute value of the difference between the average transmissivity of 520nm to 590nm light and the average transmissivity of 590nm to 640nm light is within 2.0.
