The purpose of the present invention is to provide: an electronic component which has an L-shaped external electrode having a low electrical resistance; and a method for producing the electronic component. This electronic component (1) is provided with: a main body (10) that is formed of an insulating body; a circuit element (30) that is disposed within the main body (10); and external electrodes (20, 25). The external electrodes (20, 25) are configured of bottom electrodes (21, 26) and columnar electrodes (23, 28). The columnar electrodes (23, 28) extend from the bottom surface of the main body (10) toward the inside of the main body (10). In addition, the columnar electrodes (23, 28) are embedded in the main body (10), and the columnar electrodes (23, 28) are partially exposed from lateral surfaces (S2, S3) of the main body. The bottom electrodes (21, 26) are formed of a resin that contains a metal powder. |
