PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of easily improving the quality of an image taken under low illumination conditions.SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes: a condition designation section that designates imaging conditions for taking image and light emitting conditions for emitting auxiliary light in a time-division manner; an imaging section that takes an image including a subject according to the imaging conditions; a light emitting section that emits a beam of auxiliary light toward the subject according to the light emitting conditions; and an image composition section that composes a first image which is taken under the first imaging conditions in a light emitting period when the auxiliary light is emitted, and a second image which is taken under the second imaging conditions in a non-light emitting period when the auxiliary light is not continuously emitted in the light emitting period.
