FIELD: atomic physics.SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of treating solid radioactive wastes formed when processing nuclear fuel of pressurised water reactors and RBMK reactors. The method comprises chlorinating wastes with molecular chlorine at 400-500°C and separating the obtained products, wherein ash and filtered dust-like products are fed into a purex process; in order to remove niobium and other doping elements, the gas mixture is treated with hydrogen at 450-550°C and passed through a ceramic filter heated to 500-550°C; purified zirconium tetrachloride is crystallised in a condenser at temperature not higher than 150°C.EFFECT: invention enables to minimise the volume and to convert more radioactive wastes into a safer category, and also reduces costs associated with waste disposal.2 cl, 1 dwg, 1 tbl |
