A burst signal reception circuit for receiving differential signals that are burst signals inputted via a preamplifier comprises: a differential amplifier (4) that receives the differential signals via capacitors (11a, 11b); average value detection circuits (8 (8a, 8b)) that detect average values of the differential input signals received by the differential amplifier (4); and a differential offset cancel circuit (5) that operates to cancel the DC voltage level difference between the differential input signals on the basis of output signals from the average value detection circuits (8 (8a, 8b)). The average value detection speeds of the average value detection circuits (8 (8a, 8b)) are adapted to be changed according to whether a burst signal is received; the average value detection speeds are changed to be high speeds for the leading part of a burst signal, while the average value detection speeds are changed to be lower speeds for anything other than the leading part. |
