An electronic blackboard (2) according to the present invention employs an electronic pen (4) for indicating a position on the display screen of a display (3) and detects the coordinates of the position indicated by the electronic pen (4). The electronic blackboard is equipped with: a coordinate detection section (22) that detects for a first event state caused by an operation using the electronic pen (4) when the electronic pen (4) is in contact with the display screen or in contactless proximity thereto and also detects the coordinates of the electronic pen (4) on the display screen; a contact detection section (24) that detects a second event state caused by an operation using electronic pen (4) when the electronic pen (4) is in contact with the display screen; and an event classification section (25) that extracts valid coordinates pertaining to one stroke hand-drawn on the display screen on the basis of the first event state, the second event state, and the coordinates detected by the coordinate detection section (22).
