A power cylinder system for a reciprocating engine includes a piston 20 with a top-most groove 42 extending circumferentially about the piston. The top-most groove includes one or more channels spaced apart circumferentially about the top-most groove and extending inward from an outer perimeter of the piston assembly. The system also includes a ring 44 positioned in the top-most groove, the ring including a top face, a bottom face, an inner circumferential face, and an outer circumferential face that tapers between the top face and the bottom face. A space is defined between a portion of the top-most groove and the inner circumferential face of the ring, and the space is in fluid communication with the one or more radial channels. |
