An apparatus for preventing a barnacle from being attached and a method therefor using an ultraviolet generator are disclosed. According to one embodiment of the present invention, the apparatus for preventing a barnacle from being attached using an ultraviolet generator comprises: an ultraviolet generation unit disposed near a propeller to irradiate an ultraviolet ray onto the propeller of a ship; an ultraviolet watertight unit blocking sea water with respect to the ultraviolet generation unit to operate the ultraviolet generation unit in the water; and an electric supply unit watertightly inserted into the ultraviolet watertight unit to be connected to the ultraviolet generation unit. The apparatus for preventing a barnacle from being attached using the ultraviolet generator prevents a barnacle from occurring with respect to a propeller portion, reduces the number of processes for removing the barnacle, and maintains performance during a test drive.
