<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the weight of a rotation transmitting device by reducing the axial length of an outer ring.SOLUTION: A pair of rollers 15 and an elastic member for energizing the pair of rollers 15 in the direction in which the pair of rollers separate from each other are built in between a cylindrical surface 12 formed at the inner periphery of an outer ring 11 and a cam surface 14 formed at the outer periphery of an inner ring 13. A retainer 16 for retaining the pair of rollers 15 and the elastic member is formed by a control retainer 16A and a rotation retainer 16B, and the control retainer and the rotation retainer form a combination in which pillar parts 25, 29 formed at the outer peripheral parts of flanges 24, 28 are alternately arranged in a circumferential direction. A pocket is formed between the adjacent pillar parts, and the pair of rollers built in the pocket are displaced to an engagement release position by being pressed by the pillar parts by the relative rotations of the control retainer and the rotation retainer. The pillar parts of the control retainer and the rotation retainer are arranged between the outer ring and the inner ring, and the flange is arranged and built outside the outer ring, so as to reduce axial length of the outer ring and reduce weight of the device.</p> |
