<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elastic material layer having a uniform wall thickness by ensuring the roundness of a thin wall thickness cylindrical article, when manufacturing a roller by forming an elastic material layer covering on the outer peripheral of the thin wall thickness cylindrical article. <P>SOLUTION: A cylindrical spring article is used as a core 16 for supporting the thin wall thickness cylindrical article 12 from an inner surface side. The spring body is inserted in the thin wall thickness cylindrical article 12 in such a state that the spring body is narrowed so as to be smaller than the inside diameter of the thin wall thickness cylindrical body. Afterwards, the narrowing-down of the spring article is released, and the thin wall thickness cylindrical article is supported from the inner surface side by pressure-contact of the spring body to the inner surface side of the thin wall thickness cylindrical body by the elastic resilience.
