OPTICAL TRANSMISSION SYSTEM AND OPTICAL ADD/DROP MULTIPLEXER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide simple and user-friendly path management by: making it possible to obtain a port path becoming an obstacle in the OpS at the time of λ path failure; and handling the λ path as one virtual ring.

SOLUTION: An optical transmission network system mounting an ADM transponder for an optical add/drop multiplexer (OADM node) is provided with a means for defining a main signal interconnecting the I/O ports of ADM transponders as a port path and making it a management object in the OpS. The OpS is provided with a means for opening a λ path between OADM nodes at an arbitrary wavelength, a means for searching a free time slot in the λ path and opening a port path by performing Add/Drop/Through setting for the I/O port of each ADM transponder, and a means for searching a port path passing through the λ path during failure of the λ path, associating it with an appropriate warning in the OpS and notifying a user of the warning.
