The invention relates to a vacuum pump (1) suitable for mounting to an engine, comprising a casing (2) having a cavity (4), and a moveable member (14) arranged for rotation inside the cavity (4), wherein the cavity (4) is provided with an inlet (31) and an outlet (33) and the movable member (14) is movable to draw fluid into the cavity (4) through the inlet and out of the cavity (4) through the outlet (33) so as to induce a reduction in pressure at the inlet (31), further comprising an oil supply conduit (50, 150, 250) for supplying oil from a reservoir to the cavity (4) and a check valve (70) having a check valve body (72, 172, 272) arranged in the oil supply conduit (50, 150, 250). According to the invention the check valve meters (70) the oil flow to the cavity (4) dependent on the oil pressure (DP) so that on exceeding an upper oil pressure threshold the supply of oil to the cavity (4) is stopped by means of the check valve (70). |
