An uncoated recording medium includes a blend of hardwood, softwood, and thermomechanical pulp fibers. A total fiber content is at least 80 wt% of a total wt% of the uncoated recording medium. The hardwood fibers range from about 20 wt% to 70 wt%, the softwood fibers range from about 30 wt% to 50 wt%, and the TMP fibers range from about 10 wt% to 40 wt% relative to the total fiber content. Filler(s) range from about 3 wt% to 14 wt% of the total wt% of the uncoated recording medium. The medium has i) a basis weight ranging from about 45 g/m2 to 63 g/m2, ii) an MD L&W 5° bending stiffness ranging from about 0.14 mNm to 0.30 mNm and a CD L&W 5° bending stiffness ranging from about 0.12 mNm to 0.15 mNm, and iii) a normalized opacity ranging from about 1.25 to 1.60.
