A water hammer arrester including anti-water hammering unit which effectively buffs the water hammer from the piping while self-volume expands is provided to reduce water hammer operation on the piping by expanding water hammer arrester. A water hammer arrester includes a water hammer preventing unit(100) and a coupling(200). The water hammer arrester is installed at the piping. The water hammer arrester buffs the water hammer acting on the piping. If the water hammer arrester the water hammer generated in the piping is applied, the self-volume is expanded. The hammer arrester absorbs the water hammer through expansion. The hammer arrester and piping are connected coupling. The hammer arrester comprises a joint unit(120) and a buffer unit(140).
