A PIM (passive intermodulation) diagnosis 6 is generated for one or more wireless networks which have equipment deployed at a plurality of cell sites (1 a, lb, 1c, 1d). Data is received representing PIM detection results from PIM detection devices (2a, 2b, 2c, 2d) at the cell sites. The PIM is caused by passive intermodulation between carriers. The data representing respective PIM detection results is normalised 3 to account for variations in transmission power and frequency allocation across the respective cell sites. The PIM diagnosis of the network(s) involves investigating the extent of statistical correlations between the PIM data and properties of the cell sites or their environment. For example, investigations could be focussed on investigating correlations between PIM levels and meteorological data, cell site equipment type/make, or installer. The resulting PIM diagnostic data could be used to predict cell sites where PIM levels become unacceptable in the future. The PIM diagnosis may involve carrying out a Pearson correlation, distance correlation or maximal information coefficient correlation between PIM measurements and a stream of continuous data relating to cell site equipment, conditions or environment. |
