<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a front body structure of a vehicle which transmits a forward collision load to a hood through a rigid striker to retract the hood, and suppresses damage at a front end of the hood with no reinforcement to the hood, thereby allowing the forward projection of a hood front end while satisfying a requirement for protecting a pedestrian. <P>SOLUTION: The front body structure of the vehicle includes a striker 17 provided at a front part of a hood 3, a latch mechanism 19 detachable from the striker 17, and a hinge mechanism 22 for fitting the hood 3 to a vehicle body in an openable and closable manner. The hinge mechanism 22 is provided with a retract permission means 26 which permits the retract of the hood 3.
