Disclosed are a method and an apparatus for setting assistant strength. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the apparatus for setting assistant strength generates a reference walk model by applying information of a user′s body to a predetermined human body model, and sets optimal assist strength by adjusting the assist strength provided to the user by a walking assistance apparatus based on the referent walk model.
