PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide novel compositions derived from antigen-binding sites of immunoglobulins having affinity for IL-31.SOLUTION: There is provided an isolated monoclonal antibody that binds to a human IL-31. The antibody is a humanized antibody derived from the antibody produced by the hybridoma deposited under the ATCC Patent Deposit Designation PTA-6815, where the antibody comprises an IgG4 heavy chain immunoglobulin constant domain having a serine-to-proline mutation at Kabat position 241. Also provided is a pharmaceutical composition for treatment of atopic dermatitis containing the monoclonal antibody, and a pharmaceutical composition for treatment of itching containing the monoclonal antibody.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
