A 3D image formation unit (30) sets a plurality of rays for volume data, and forms an ultrasound image by using image formation processing which uses the plurality of rays. A resolution processing block (40) increases the resolution of the ultrasound image formed by the 3D image formation unit (30). The present invention forms an ultrasound image by reducing the processing time required for image formation processing, by reducing the number of rays to be used in the image formation processing performed by the 3D image formation unit (30). Furthermore, the present invention increases the resolution of the ultrasound image which would decline along with the reduction in ray number, by improving the resolution of the ultrasound image by using the resolution processing block (40). |
