The present invention relates to a pouch-type rechargeable battery manufacturing apparatus and a method thereof. The apparatus can simplify a pouch-type rechargeable battery manufacturing process while maintaining and enhancing the insulation property of a pouch-type rechargeable battery. According to the present invention, the pouch case sealing apparatus is used to seal a pouch case of the rechargeable battery. The apparatus includes: an upper jig which pressures a sealing unit of the pouch case in a downward direction from the upper part; and a lower jig which presses the lower part of the sealing unit of the pouch case in an upward direction. Either or both of the upper and lower jigs has the pressure depth regarding the sealing unit of the pouch case on an inner end longer than that on an outer end.
