According to an embodiment of the present invention, an electric bicycle can comprise: a heart rate sensor unit installed in a position in contact with a part of the body of a user to measure the heart rate of the user at a preset cycle; a control unit for generating a motor control signal based on the pedal effort of the user and the heart rate of the user measured by the heart rate sensor unit and outputting the motor control signal; and a driving unit for detecting the size of the pedal effort of the user to provide the size information to the control unit and to drive the motor according to the motor control signal.
