PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To execute recovery action further suitable for a cause of a discharge defect of a nozzle and eliminate effectively the discharge defect when detecting the discharge defect of the nozzle by vibration of a meniscus.SOLUTION: In a state where light is being sent from a light emitting portion to a nozzle, a control device controls a driver IC so that at least one of plural kinds of meniscus driving signals is applied to one piezoelectric element and the meniscus of ink is vibrated at a discharge port of a nozzle corresponding to the piezoelectric element. Based on light receiving amounts at a light receiving portion at the time of the vibration of the meniscus, one recovery operation is determined from the plural kinds of recovery operations.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 10 |
