PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide technology which allows an optical signal component in desired wavelength to be extracted from among WDM optical signals propagating through a transmission line easily with high accuracy to monitor the quality of the optical signal.SOLUTION: A quality monitoring device monitors the quality of a wavelength division multiplexed optical signal disposed on a transmission line and propagating through the transmission line. The quality monitoring device comprises: a branch unit which branches part of the wavelength division multiplexed optical signal propagating through the transmission line to extract it; a light source which emits laser light; a receiving unit which, by letting the branched wavelength division multiplexed optical signal interfered with the laser light, receives a monitoring object optical signal corresponding to the wavelength of the laser light; a quality measurement unit which measures the quality of the received monitoring object optical signal; and a control unit which controls the wavelength of the laser light at the light source and lets the quality measurement unit measure the quality of each of optical signals wavelength multiplexed into the wavelength division multiplexed optical signal. |
