<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a condensed heterocyclic compound in which the content of a compound (stabilizing agent) represented by general formula (3) is reduced. <P>SOLUTION: A condensed heterocyclic compound represented by general formula (1) is produced by using an ether-based solvent represented by general formula (2) in the presence of a stabilizing agent represented by general formula (3), and thereafter is subjected to recrystallization purification in which a recrystallization solvent containing≥30% acetonitrile is used. [In general formula (1), W represents an oxygen atom, a sulfur atom or -NR<SB POS="POST">n</SB>(R<SB POS="POST">n</SB>represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an aryl group or a heteroaryl group.); Z<SB POS="POST">1</SB>and Z<SB POS="POST">2</SB>each independently represents an aromatic hydrocarbon ring or an aromatic heterocyclic ring; R<SB POS="POST">a</SB>and R<SB POS="POST">b</SB>each represents an aromatic hydrocarbon group or an aromatic heterocyclic group. In general formula (2), R<SB POS="POST">1</SB>and R<SB POS="POST">2</SB>each represents alkyl or aryl, and R<SB POS="POST">1</SB>and R<SB POS="POST">2</SB>may form a ring mutually.
