<p>A recording-material transport apparatus includes a retracting member that moves at a speed lower than a transport speed of a recording material transported from an upstream side in a transport direction, to a downstream side in the transport direction along a transport path for the recording material, and that retracts from the transport path after a leading end of the recording material contacts with the retracting member, a first transport member that transports the recording material from the upstream side in the transport direction toward the retracting member, and a second transport member that further transports the recording material in contact with the retracting member to the downstream side. After the leading end of the recording material contacts with the retracting member, without being paused, transport of the recording material with the first transport member is continued to deliver the recording material to the second transport member.</p> |
