Apparatus for automatically taking up slack of conductors.-In order to guide the current supply cable of an electric iron, the cable is placed in an elastic guide tube consisting of a spiral spring fixed at its ends to the iron and to a crank-lever mounted to swing on a table clamp which follows the iron and relieves the cable of the pull. In the embodiment, the current supply cable b is protected against kinking at the iron a by a short spiral spring c to which is fixed, by a pressed metal plate screw socket e, a long spiral spring d. The other end of the spring d is fixed to an arm f<1> of a U-shaped strap rotatably mounted on the upper limb of a table. clamp g. A lower arm f<2> of the strap f is formed with a guide bush h for the cable b. A spring i, attached to the clamp g, is adapted to be bent to serve as a grip i<1> for the cable b, thus relieving the plug k, mounted at the cable end, from the pull of the iron.
