The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for compensating for column torque of an MDPS system. The apparatus comprises: a detection unit detecting at least one of a steering angle and an angular speed and column torque; and a control unit calculating a column torque compensation ratio based on at least one of the steering angle and the angular speed detected through the detection unit in case of steering reverse after determining whether steering is reversed, and calculating column torque compensated on the basis of the column torque detected through the detection unit and the calculated compensation ratio. |
