摘要 Multisampling techniques provide temporal as well as spatial antialiasing. Coverage for a primitive is determined at multiple sample locations for a pixel. In one embodiment, coverage is determined using boundary equations representing a boundary surface of the primitive in a three-dimensional space-time. A shading value for the primitive is computed for the pixel and stored for each coverage sample location of the pixel that is covered by the primitive. The sample locations are distributed in both space and time, and multiple sample locations share a single shading computation. The multisampling techniques are extendable to other dimensions that correspond to other image attributes.

A method for generating an image, the method comprising: with a graphics processing unit: receiving geometry data representing a location and a motion of a primitive during a frame interval; within a graphics processing pipeline, generating a plurality of intermediate primitives from the geometry data, each intermediate primitive associated with a respective intermediate time within the frame interval; multisampling each of the intermediate primitives, thereby generating a plurality of multisampled data sets for a pixel, wherein each multisampled data set comprises a depth and a coverage for each one of a plurality of sample locations and a single shading value associated with all of the plurality of sample locations; and filtering the multisampled data sets for the pixel to determine a color value for the pixel.
