A hand gesture-based interface apparatus of the present invention comprises: an area detecting unit for detecting a hand area of a user from a depth image photographed from a depth camera; a normal vector extracting unit for extracting a normal vector by approximating a palm from the detected hand area to a flat surface; an intersection point extracting unit for extracting an intersection point with a virtual screen, based on the extracted normal vector; and a weighted value applying unit for applying a weighted value to the extracted intersection point, based on a sigmoid function. The weighted value is measured on the basis of the distance between a current extracted intersection point and a previous extracted intersection point.
