The present invention relates to a method for extracting an image feature, which generates a center-symmetric band signature. The method of the present invention comprises the following steps: converting a preprocessed input image into an ordinal image; dividing the ordinal image into the predetermined number of center-symmetric band areas; and generating a center-symmetric band signature with respect to an input image by using feature values extracted with respect to each center-symmetric band area and a difference value of the feature values. The center-symmetric band has a quadrangular shape having the same thickness, and has a shape symmetric with respect to the center of the ordinal image. The center-symmetric band signature, generated by the method for extracting the image feature, displays to be robust even in a spatial conversion when detecting a near-duplicate video.
